Rebecca (Becky) Levey, 72, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas with her family by her side.
She was born January 11, 1951, the youngest and second daughter of Bernell (Mason) and Jack Hancock, in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Her father was killed in action in the Korean War when she was 11 months old, her mother remarried eight years later and they moved to San Jose, California.
Becky began her banking career at United California Bank in 1974, where she met her husband, Perry. She and Perry married on October 14th, 1978. She worked at several banks culminating her career at Heritage Bank of Commerce, retiring in 2010.
She graduated from the University of “Hard Knocks” starting at entry level secretarial positions and ascending through the ranks based on her accomplishments to become Senior Vice President at Heritage Bank.
She was the bank’s corporate secretary reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors. She also managed the bank’s marketing function as well. Her knowledge of corporate governance garnered her the respect of the legal counsel in the banking industry.
She was a member of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries for many years. She was beloved and respected by her management, her peers, and her colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents; Jack Hancock, and Bernell and Cleve Graves, and her infant son, Mark Anthony.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Perry Levey, her daughter Larisa Levey Bonola (James), Granddaughters; Rebecca Bonola, Savanna Bonola Nava (Eric), and her great-granddaughter, Gianna Rose Nava. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Guzman and two brothers: Charles Graves (Fran) and Matthew Graves, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends.
A Memorial Service for Becky will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at Grange Community Center (413 N. Main Street, Cibolo, TX, 78103)
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to Altus Hospice in Becky’s memory.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caretakers, Salina Guest, Anne & Beth Karanja, Theresa Perry, and Altus Hospice.
