Rebecca Jane “Becky” Wolfe, 88, of Bedford, died on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on May 22, 1937 in Cumberland Valley, the youngest daughter of the late William and Goetha (May) Cessna. On July 1, 1955 in Trenton, NJ, she married William Wolfe and he survives along with two daughters: Teresa K. Leppert and husband Larry of Everett, and Karen W. Brandt and husband Jim of Crestview, FL; two grandchildren: Jason Cessna and wife Jenna Epstein and Amy Fritz and husband Rudi; four great-grandchildren: Quinn and Owen Cessna, Haley and Cooper Fritz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Edna “Pet” Howsare, William “Pud” Cessna, Clarence “Sambo” Cessna, George Cessna, Henry Lee Cessna, Cyrus Dale Cessna, Lloyd “Tex” Cessna, Joanie King, Lawrence “Rabbit” Cessna, Wesley “Pinky” Cessna, and infants Mary and Dorothy Cessna.
Becky spent her life as an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. After Bill and Becky united in marriage, she spent 67 of her 88 years in the home they created in Friends Cove. They raised their daughters Teresa and Karen in the home and subsequently spent countless joyful hours enjoying their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their son-in-law’s. Becky’s warmth, love, kindness, and generosity were felt by all who crossed her doorstep or path. She made picnics, family reunions, holidays and drop-in visits feel special. There were always cookies, pie, or cake to share, the favorite being her sand tarts at Christmas. Her multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews enjoyed the woods and creek around their house as well. A testament to her love is how many came to visit her well into their own adulthood. Becky touched countless other lives through her many years of work at Colerain Elementary School, first as a Teacher’s Aide and then as the school secretary. For many years, she served the Bedford Fair as secretary and assistant entry clerk and in retirement along with Bill spent summers doing volunteer work for the fair. Becky and Bill were part of the foundational work creating a local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and faithfully supported the fundraising banquet. Spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Elk County and yearly visits to Cade’s Cove were always a highlight. Becky’s deepest enjoyment though was spent with Bill after retirement, roaming the West, camping, hiking, seeing wildlife and following the trails of Lewis and Clark and Native Americans. She brought home post cards, photos and memories which she meticulously collected in scrapbooks. Becky was proud and grateful to have had the privilege to travel in all 50 states, including celebrating her 25th and 50th anniversaries with Bill in Hawaii. Becky was a woman of enormous energy, enthusiasm and a zest for life. She is deeply missed.
