Reed grew up in Nashville and played at Belmont College on their first basketball team. He worked at a local TV station in Nashville prior to enlisting in the Marine Corps. He played in the Marine Band. Those years were time he reflected on and cherished greatly. He played in many bands over the years. Music was his true enjoyment in life and golf with friends. His dear friend, Tom Senff was both a musician and a golfer, and the two of them enjoyed playing music and many hours of golf together. Reed graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired from GTE Sylvania after 25 years. He was also a Kentucky Colonel of which he was very proud.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care. The family would greatly appreciate this gesture of support.
