Reeder Fulton Lyons III, age 78, of Dallas GA, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta GA with Dr. Byron Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with military honors.
Reeder Fulton Lyons III was born on November 18, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Reeder Fulton Lyons II and Patricia Cale Lyons. He attended and graduated from Pleasant Grove Christian High School in Dallas, Texas in May 1964.
He joined the Air Force in July 9, 1964; he was medically discharged on May 4, 1965.
Reeder married Diana McCollum. Four sons were born to them. Tragically, one son passed at an innocent 18 months of age. They divorced. Reeder raised his other three little boys to adulthood. A family from his church, John and Ruth Bearden, helped him with babysitting.
Reeder and Sharon Manchester were married on August 5, 1995 at Mt. View Church, Marietta, GA. One of their special memories was going on a missions’ trip to Guatemala, October 18-30 2001.
He was a member of Mt. View Church. He served as a Deacon. He built two beautiful pulpits for the church, and enhanced a cross to make it more elaborate, among other things. His favorite verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. He was dearly loved by everyone.
Reeder mentored many young men – he considered them his sons and they considered him their Dad. He loved to teach and to love them. He would meet with them on a weekly basis, or on Facebook on a daily basis. What a legacy!
He was a skilled carpenter and did remodeling and building things in homes as his life work.
Reeder was preceded in death by his parents, Reeder F II and Patricia Cale Lyons, a brother Ronald, a son Christopher, and a step grandson Andrew Hatt.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons Phillip Lyons, and Michael Lyons and wife Lindsey; step-daughters Valerie Tabor, and Vanessa Tabor. Sister Elizabeth Taylor, and sister-in-law Terri Lyons. Grandsons Machai and Maddox Lyons; and step grandson Jonathan Hatt.
Pallbearers are: Tom Boyce, Troy Conway, Mike Herco, Bill Johnson, Michael Lyons, Phillip Lyons
