Regina Draheim Obituary

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Regina Lorraine Draheim age 103, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on July 20, 2025.
A graveside service was held in Regina's honor at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Lone Tree Cemetery in Lone Tree, Iowa.
Regina was born on August 23, 1921, in Waseca, Minnesota, to Charles and Amanda (Stucy) McCoy. She was united in marriage with Victor O. Draheim, and together they built a loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Draheim and Marie Johnson; and by her granddaughter, Deborah Myers. Regina was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter Marcia Draheim; and by an infant daughter, Karla Marie Draheim.
Regina worked in tandem with her husband, a Superintendent of Schools in Irwin, Wall Lake, Independence, Carroll, and Lone Tree Iowa. In those communities they were members of Peace Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church, First Methodist Church, and finally the Lone Tree Presbyterian Church, in Lone Tree Iowa. She was very active in the Women's Auxiliary Church groups in all locations, and taught Sunday school and bible school.
Regina was also an extremely accomplished classical pianist who studied music her entire life and perfected her talent with Edward Turczak, retired concert pianist, in Carroll Iowa. She tirelessly taught piano lessons to any student wishing to learn until 1976.
Regina was an active member of PEO until 2016 and enjoyed playing couples and ladies bridge. She tirelessly loved and supported her family in their pursuits. Upon the death of her husband, Regina became an invaluable employee in the medical records department at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 1976-1996. Upon retirement, Regina was awarded the St. Luke's Hospital President's Lifetime Call to Service Award for 4,000 hours of Volunteer service in 2006. During 27 years of retirement, Regina performed a total of 14,446 hours of volunteer service to St. Luke's Hospital in the areas of Diabetes and Breast & Bone.
Her daughters and granddaughter wish to thank Regina and their (grand)father, Victor, for responding to the challenges of the Great Depression and WWII. As members of your Greatest Generation, you responded so quietly and dutifully that we were all saved without always realizing how heroic you were. What an honor it is to know any and all of your generation. Thank you for the opportunities you gave us that were not given or provided for you! We owe you everything.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573-449-4153). Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com

To Marie and all of the Draheim family, my sincere condolences. I was a friend and classmate of Marie´s at Lone Tree and spent a fair amount of time at your house. I still remember what fun we had with a 4-H demonstration on hairstyles. Regina was such a gracious woman. What a grand life she lived who touched so many people in her long life.
