Regina Torres, 72, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, while under the compassionate care of hospice at Bayshore Medical Center.
Born on February 9, 1953, in Jersey City to Robert and Marie Dingledine, Regina was the beloved sister of Kathleen and Michael. The family later moved to Middletown, where Regina attended Saint Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Mater Dei High School.
She went on to earn her nursing degree from Brookdale Community College and began her lifelong calling as a nurse.
Regina dedicated more than 40 years to caring for others as an oncology nurse at Riverview Medical Center, working on 3 East. Known for her skill, empathy, and devotion to her patients, she touched countless lives through her decades of service. Even in retirement-forced by illness in 2016-her compassion and care for others remained a defining part of who she was.
Regina was married to the late Stephen Torres, and together they had one daughter, Natasha Torres. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. Regina is survived by her daughter Natasha; her cherished grandchildren Tristan Torres, Takoda Morgan, Tealyn Morgan, Talia Morgan, and Tanner Morgan; and her loving sister, Kathleen Lavretta. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Marie Dingledine, her brother Michael, and her former husband Stephen.
Regina shared a particularly close bond with her eldest grandson, Tristan, and was affectionately known by her younger grandchildren as "Nanny Chicken Legs" or "Nurse Nanny." Standing only 4'5" and weighing about 70 pounds, she was small in stature but mighty in spirit, faith, and love.
A devout Catholic, Regina attended church daily until her illness early this year. Her faith was central to her life, guiding her with grace, strength, and compassion. She also found great peace in her garden, where her favorite roses bloomed and hummingbirds often visited. She loved spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers, and feeding the birds she so adored.
Regina also had a passion for treasure-hunting at TJ Maxx and Goodwill, always on the lookout for a good bargain. She was rarely without her two beloved Pomeranians, Milo and Watson, who brought her constant comfort and companionship.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her tender heart, her incredible garden, and her lifelong dedication to caring for others.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 17th at 10 am at Mary, Mother of God RC Church, Middletown. Regina will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Bayshore Medical Center for the exceptional care and kindness they showed to Regina in her final days. Their compassion will never be forgotten.
