Reginald "Reggie" Leo Kerns Reginald "Reggie" Leo Kerns, 63, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010, while in the company of family members at his residence.

Reginald was born in Rockingham County on July 2, 1947, a son of the late Alvan R. and Ethel (Reedy) Kerns.

He was a lifelong farmer, and the founder and proprietor of Dry River Farms, where he raised dairy, beef, and turkey. On April 9, 2010, he retired from Dupont after 42 years of service. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 632, American Legions Post 188, and the AMVETS.

He was united in marriage on September 23, 1967, to Phyllis (Cromer) Kerns, who survives. Reginald is also survived by two sons, Wesley Kerns and his wife, Linda, of Dayton, and Jeremy Kerns and his wife, Nicole, of Dayton; three grandchildren, Krista Duke and her husband, William, Dylan Scott Kerns, and Alec "Nickelson" Kerns; and two great-granddaughters, Vivien and Sadie Duke.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, with the Reverend W.L. "Sonny" Henkel officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Dayton.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010, at his home, 2417 Kerns Road, Dayton.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, One Charles Center, 100 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 Attention: Doctor Richard Schulick, or RMH Hospice, 2010 Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

We always had fun around Reggie, no matter what we were doing! Whether it was working on the camp, riding 4 wheelers or just listening to his stories.. Never be another like Reggie.
We love you!! you will be missed...
