Reginald Leonard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 8, 2024.

Reginald L. Leonard, 91, passed away on January 31, 2024, at the Union House Nursing Home in Glover, Vermont.

Reg was born on November 14, 1932, to Ernest and Edith (Vancour) Leonard in the Leonard house, where he grew up.  He proudly served in the Army from 1953-1955. Reg married the love of his life, Frances Amadon on November 30, 1957.  They were happily married for 31 years before she passed away in 1989.  Reg worked as a barber for many years before spending most of his career at Tap and Die in Lyndonville, before retiring.  He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Church.  He enjoyed many years of square dancing with his wife and loved traveling to do so.  What Reg loved the most was spending time with his family. He enjoyed his yearly trips to the Great Lakes with his son, Chris.  Reg loved supporting his grandchildren in everything that they did.  You could find him at every one of their sporting events all year long. He also enjoyed, for several years, traveling to Georgia in the winters to spend time with his son, Tim, and grandchildren.  For the past 7 years, he lived with his daughter, Kathy, in order to be closer to his family, and was so proud to call this home.

He is survived by son: Timothy Leonard and wife, Sheila, of Perry, GA with grandchildren: Shasta Leonard, Autumn Lynn (Brandon), Timothy Leonard (Catherine), and Summer Kittle (Tommy); daughter Kathleen Ainsworth and husband Duane, of Lyndonville, VT with Grandchildren: Heather Tanner (Dan), Heidi Hook (Damian), Christopher Ainsworth (Hannah), and Kimberly Aussiker (Ralph); and daughter-in-law Sheila Leonard and grandchildren Alyssa and Mason.  Reg also has many great-grandchildren who he loves dearly.

He is predeceased by his loving wife Frances; son Chris; six brothers: Howard, Merton, Ernest, Floyd, Cecil, and Norman; a sister: Alberta; and an infant sister, Beverly; and second wife Dorothy Lynaugh.

A graveside funeral service, officiated by Fr. Curtis Miller, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10 AM, at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery on Hill Street in Lyndonville, VT. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the VFW in Lyndonville.
