Reginald Schmidt, age 82, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 25, 1943 in Manitowoc. Reginald lived a life rooted in service, dedication, and a deep love for his family.

Reginald proudly joined the United States Army, where he served his country in Germany until his honorable discharge. On September 28, 1968, Reginald married the love of his life, Bette Jeske. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising six children. Reginald dedicated much of his working life to the railroad, first with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and later retiring as a conductor from the Wisconsin Central Railroad division.

Outside of work, Reginald found joy in life's simple pleasures. He consistently cheered on the Milwaukee Brewers, was an avid fisherman, a talented woodworker, and took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard. Reginald was honored to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight, a meaningful trip to Washington, D.C., recognizing his service, and allowing him to pay tribute to fellow veterans. It was a highlight in his life and a memory he cherished. Reginald was a member of the AMVETS Post #99.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Reginald leaves behind a lasting legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Bette; six children; Tammy (Dan) Schisel, John (Vicky) Schmidt, Sarah Schmidt and fiancé Patrick, Jeffrey Schmidt, Gregory (Jenny) Schmidt, Jenny (Eric) Troullier, sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren-all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Judy) Schmidt along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Reginald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Schmidt and two brothers, Ronnie and Roger Schmidt.

Reginald will be remembered for his steady presence, his contagious laugh, and his unwavering commitment to his family and country. His stories, wisdom, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water Street, Manitowoc, with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 12 p.m. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the services by the AMVETS Post #99.
