Reid James Newton, Sr., age 86, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March, 15, 2025.
Reid was born in Pennsylvania and was one of seven children. After retirement he moved to Oliver Springs, TN. He was a Navy Veteran. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Newton, by brother, Norman Newton and by sister, Shirley Newton.
He is survived by spouse, Patricia Newton, son, Reid (Jamey) Newton, II and wife Carrie, grandchildren, Zane Capps, Eliza and Karigan Newton, Amanda Cornejo and husband Jose, Terry Taylor, Jr and fiance Michelle Mcguire, Amanda Avila and husband Jorge and Christopher Johnson, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Landon, Macey, Emory, Olivia, Emily, Elena and Eli.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, March 25, 2025 between the hours of 9:00am - 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, TN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. Graveside with military honors will be held at 2:00pm at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on East Governor John Sevier Hwy.
