Obituary
Aaron Dean Peacock, of Oak Ridge, TN, died from brain cancer on August 19, 2025, at home, surrounded by family.
Born April 6, 1966, in Auburn, CA, he is the oldest child and only son of Bret and Carolee (Mavy) Peacock. Growing up he loved soccer, skateboarding, and Taekwondo, which he learned as a young teen while living in South Korea. A graduate of Delta High School (UT), he played football and ran track.
Aaron married his one love, Atina Thomas, for time and all eternity on January 10, 1987, at the Jordan River Temple (UT). They have two children, Emerson and Aislyn. He found joy in being with his family, loved watching his kids run, naps with his dogs, trail running with his friend Steve Lowe, early Saturday dinners out with his wife, talking with literally anyone, and work.
Aaron received his Bachelors in Soil Sciences (1997), Master’s in Biosystems Engineering Technology with a Statistics Minor (2000), and Doctor of Philosophy Environmental Science (2007) from the University of Tennessee (UT) and has well over 100 research publications. In 2020, the Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science Department at UT recognized Aaron with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served an 18-month mission as a young adult in Tampa, FL. In his adult years, Aaron was a member of the local bishopric and a Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Atina; son Emerson (Meagan) Peacock, daughter Aislyn (Hideki) Peacock, “adopted” daughter Annie (Hared) Albancando, granddaughters Adelaide and Maeleigh, step grandsons Zachariah and Ezekiel, sisters Darcy (Steve) Boden, Krista (Ken) Edwards, Kellie Peacock, Ashley Brett (Stephen) Queen, uncles Chris (Carolyn) Mavy, Jack Mavy, aunt Deanna (Bary) Elison, in-laws Suzette (Jim) Cowperthwaite, Vance (Colleen) Thomas, Curtis (Sandy) Thomas, Derrick (Maryann) Thomas, Dannell (John) Lampe, and host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bret and Carolee Peacock, grandparents Bill and Alice Peacock, Carol and Mary Mavy, niece Kendra Edwards Naisbitt, parent-in-laws Roger and Anita Thomas, brother-in-law Bradley Thomas, his mentor David C. White, MD, PhD, and his dogs Whoopi, Oliver, and Bentley.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
