RENA E. (Bayme) Baker, a long time Randolph resident, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 24th at 82 years of age.

She was the daughter of Joseph & Gertrude (Blackman) Bayme. Gertrude died a young wife and mother. Joseph married Lena (Blackman), who was the loving mother of Rena, her older sister Evelyn, and younger brother Steven.

In her late teens, Rena re-connected with Howard Baker, with whom she first met as a 13 year old. In 1980 they settled in Randolph where Rena became involved in Town affairs. First as an employee and later as a Town Meeting Member. She was the Assistant Town Clerk and later was appointed as Director of Elder Services. In that position, Rena assisted over 3,000 senior residents to navigate the complexities facing many older citizens.

Rena and Howard were members of Temple Beth Shalom of Holbrook where they were active members. In recent years they became affiliated with Congregation Sha'aray Shalom in Hingham where their daughter Wendy and her family are members.

Rena exhibited her creative and artistic endeavors through painting, crocheting and crafting, and was a skilled baker. She also enjoyed spending time at various casinos.

Rena was the devoted daughter of the late Joseph, Gertrude and Lena Bayme, and for 60 years, was the beloved wife of Howard. She was the loving mother of Wendy Lynne Barrett & her husband William, Michelle Gene Del Rosario & her husband James and Stacy Ann Zainule & her husband Safraz. Rena was the cherished grandmother of Sam Barrett, Shayna Barrett, Caren Seal & her husband Matthew, Leslie Hildreth, Jackson Del Rosario, and great-grandmother of Elijah Seal and Charlotte Carr. She was the dear sister of Steven Bayme, PhD & his wife Edith and the late Evelyn Rosenfield & her late husband Maurice. Rena was a caring cousin and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held at Congregation Sha'aray Shalom, 1112 Main Street, Hingham on Sunday, December 28th at 9:30AM. Interment to follow at the Anshe Sfard Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.

Shiva will be observed at Congregation Sha'aray Shalom on Sunday evening beginning at 5:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rena's memory may be made to: Congregation Sha'aray Shalom, 1112 Main Street, Hingham, MA 02043 or Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St., #201, Newton, MA 02460.
