A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Rena Delores Daugherty, age 95, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1930 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Frank Marion and Bertha Mae Geary Woodcock. Mrs. Daugherty retired from JCPS where she worked in food service at Carrithers Middle School for 25 years. She was a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Taylorsville and volunteered for the American Red Cross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Archie Clay Daugherty, 3 sisters, Mae Woodcock, Marie Lynch, Mary Mitchell, and 6 brothers, Carol Gene, Willis Ray, Earl, Merle, Vic and Bernest Lee Woodcock. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Faye Shylock of Louisville, Deborah Lynn (Charles) Vittitoe of Louisville, her son, Edward Paul (Nancy) Daugherty of Taylorsville, her sister, Jearlynn Woodcock Hoskins of Henry County, 4 grandchildren, Tony (Kendra) Vittitoe, Clay (Lauren) Daugherty, Michael (Delaney) Vittitoe, Abbey (Luke) Hardin, and 4 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Elizabeth and Sailor Vittitoe and Everett Daugherty. Funeral services for Mrs. Rena Delores Daugherty will be 11:30 am Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Jon Rohr will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 pm and Thursday after 9:00 am until time of the funeral service. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Plum Creek Baptist Church Building Fund. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
