A Taylorsville resident, Mr. James Russell Cranmer, age 72, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at UofL Health Shelbyville. He was born January 21, 1953 in Louisville to the late James William and Anna Pearl Redmon Cranmer. Russell was a retired Chief Deputy for the Spencer County Sheriffs Office, was a former employee of the Taylorsville Police Department and was a member of Harrisonville Pentecostal Church. He was a family man and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tabitha King and 2 brothers, Tom and Ray Cranmer. He is survived by his wife, Marlene McKinley Cranmer, his daughter, Rebecca (Jason) Manning, his son, Russell "Ten Pen" (Krystal) Cranmer, his son-in-law, Robbie King, his nephew, Matthew Hilbert, all of Taylorsville, 11 grandchildren, Austin (Whitney) King, Derrick (Hailey) King, Baylie Cranmer, Jacob Manning, Skylar Manning, Gabe Manning, Luke Manning, James Russell Cranmer III, Riley Cranmer, William Cranmer, Elaina Cranmer, 4 great grandchildren, Austin Coryell, Levi Coryell, Grayson King, and one due in October, Kaysen King, and 4 sisters, Martha Goodlett, Rose (Junie) Barnes, Janet (Roy) McClease and Charlene Cranmer, all of Shelbyville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. James Russell Cranmer will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 11, 2025 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Randall Burgin and Bro. Chad Goodlett will officiate. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 am-8:00 pm, Wednesday from 10:00 am-8:00 pm and Thursday after 10:00 am until time of the funeral service. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
