Born November 26, 1973 in Delaware, Ohio the daughter of the late Joseph Albert & Aouieda Rose (Jordan) Byas. Rena attended Delaware Hayes High School. She met and married Michael Sumner, they started a family and had 5 children together.
Rena is preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael in 2005.
Left to cherish her memory are her life-partner and best friend of 18 years Steve Millisor; sons Joe (Olivia) Sumner, Zachary (Rachel) Sumner and Derrick (Sara) Sumner; daughters Melanie (Jesse) Sumner and Melinda Sumner; step-children Miranda (Josh) Love, Chelsie Ward and Levi Hewitt; grandchildren Jeremy, Aubrey, Patience, Ryder, Jordan, Ashtyn, Emerson, Maverick, Waelen, Madalyn and Mason; sister Deborah (Jordan) Colgan numerous incredible in-laws; beloved pets Hunter, Bella and Sam; Rowdy, Zoey and Lexie
Rena started her career working for JP Morgan, in the Mortgage Department. When she wasn't working, she was spending time with her family, which she cherished most of all. Rena had her own crafting business, where she painted and cut custom art. Some of Rena's work can still be seen today, she was the painter of the cow licking the ice cream cone at the Dari Barn in Ashley. Rena was a master of poker, enjoyed cookouts and a seafood dinner when she got the chance.
Those close to Rena, will remember her as the loving, caring, strong-willed and sometimes stubborn and hard headed individual that she was; but most importantly she will be remembered as the partner, mother, "mimi" and fighter that she was.
Friends may join the family on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Ken Morehouse will officiate a Funeral Service Celebrating the significance of Rena's Life at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne.
Memorial contributions in Rena's honor may be directed towards the Humane Society of Delaware County, 5920 State Route 37 East, Delaware, Ohio 43015
