Renald Heffelfinger Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville Butler Chapel on Oct. 1, 2025.
Renald Heffelfinger was a Colossians 3:12 Christian, clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Renald will always be remembered for his quick smile and gentle nature.
Renald Lee Heffelfinger, age 87 of Bellville, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on September 20th, 2025. He was born on November 16, 1937, to Earl and Edna (Donough-Lamb) Heffelfinger in Loudonville, Ohio, and grew up in the area. He was a proud Butler Bulldog and an avid sports enthusiast. He was a member of the basketball team and could palm a ball with each hand simultaneously, even into his retirement years. He also Played High School baseball and always cheered on the Clear Fork teams.
A tinkerer at heart, Renald took pleasure in fixing and building things. He designed and built the home he shared with his wife of 53 years, Sandi, and paid for it with cash. He was so proud to have never held a mortgage on his property or his home. Renald worked as a traveling pipeliner in 33 states from the time he graduated from Butler High School until 1980, when he was hired on as a Class A mechanic for Kokosing Construction in Fredericktown. Whether he was cutting firewood, fishing, hunting mushrooms, or playing golf, Renald was always happiest outdoors or spending time with his big brother, Gerald. Until it closed, Renald was a deacon at the First Congregational Church in Lexington and was instrumental in having the addition built in the 1980s. As his health declined, he attended churches in Bellville as much as possible and enthusiastically volunteered as a greeter, usher, and parking attendant. No job was too big or small for Ren. He loved the Lord and took joy in spreading the word every opportunity he could find.
He is survived by his Beloved brother Gerald (and Jane) Heflen. Daughters Missy Blake and Chrissy (and Jaime) Heffelfinger-Dominguez. Grandchildren Molly and Katie Gurik, Mario and Joanna Heffelfinger-Dominguez, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend and roommate at Country Meadow, James Sheard. He was welcomed home by his wife, Sandra (Sandi) Lang-Heffelfinger, Granddaughter Emily Hope Gurik, and Sisters Geri Ann (Lamb) Risner and Donna Marie (Heffelfinger) Secrist.
