Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend, Renate Karin Alix passed peacefully on Sunday, January 14th around 8pm.
She was born in the city of Stettin, Germany to Walli and Georg Witt. Renate endured a challenging childhood which saw her wave goodbye to her father boarding one train during the war while her mother, brother, three sisters and grandfather boarded another with hopes for survival and a better life. Knowing it would probably be the last she saw of her father; the difficulty must have been more than she could bear. By grace, determination and a mother that would not tolerate anything less than a better life for her children, they eventually made it to western New York where Renate went to school, worked hard and eventually met her husband, Lieutenant Commander Paul Alix.
Paul and Renate were married in 1968 and were married for 47 years until Paul passed in 2015. They settled in New Jersey where they raised two sons, Donald and Christopher. Renate was the consummate mother and leader of the family's home life making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be there and well cared for. She returned to work once her sons were old enough to take care of themselves after school. Renate had a career in cosmetology owning her own Merle Norman franchise store. She also worked as a senior leader in a women's boutique making regular buying trips to New York city's fashion district selecting the best of the best for the store. Paul and Renate had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them and attending and supporting all of the activities that their boys were involved with through grammar, middle and high schools. Renate enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and will always be remembered for those memorable meals, and the humorous anecdotes she uniquely served many times as a side dish.
Renate retired with her husband in 1994 and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be with her sons who had since graduated college and settled there. For the next 21 years they enjoyed many holidays, vacations, dinners, celebrations including the marriages of both of her sons and the birth of 4 grandchildren (Kyle, Madison, Anthony and Ashley). Omi, as she was known to her grandchildren was an ever -present caregiver and leader to her grandchildren. She will be forever remembered for her constant love, care and time spent with the kids. Renate was very involved in church where she and Paul attended the Scottsdale Worship Center. Renate was known for being a major source of support and care for members of her church and was quick to help those in need with anything that they needed as well as a being a faithful and dedicated tither.
Renate was preceded in death by her husband Paul (2015), sister Rita, nephew Jeffery and is survived by sons Christopher, Donald and Kirk and daughters Veronica and Carmen, sisters Marianne, Waltraud and brother Fred as well as many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 9th at the Scottsdale Worship Center located at 6508 East Cactus Road at 11am. Donations to the church in lieu of flowers would be appreciated, but not expected.

Hallo Chris,
habe deine Karte erhalten.
