Renate was born on April 11, 1939 to Hermann Como and Anna Hofacker Como in Hanau, Germany. She grew up in Germany. As a young adult, Renate enjoyed skiing, hiking, and travelling. She dedicated her life to raising her three children as a military wife and then subsequently, while living in Guam. Family was her strength and she spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren. Renate enjoyed reading, the arts, social gathering, traveling, and dancing with Joe.
Renate was a member and a one-time treasurer of The Retired Enlisted Association Auxiliary. Renate was active in numerous other retired military and local organizations and events. Renate was an amazing woman She was an incredible and caring family member. I will especially remember her constant kindness towards my mom. Auntie was a beautiful, sweet person. Renate was preceded in death by her parents, Hermann and Anna Como; her first husband, William P. Chaco; mothers and fathers-in-law, Jose and Dina Chaco and Ignacio and Joaquina Cruz; numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her current spouse, Jose T. Cruz; children, William Chaco, Michael Chaco (Susan), Tammy Navarro (Hector); step children, Patricia Ortega (Ed), Diana Sanchez (Mike); sister (spouse and daughters), Rosemarie Kl ppel (Ralf, Jeanette and Anne-Cathrin); grandchildren; Brittany Mahlstedt (Chris), William Chaco (Kelly), Georgette Gandara (Jim), Trevor Chaco (Adyana), Joelle Navarro, Noah Navarro; step grandchildren, Tony Washington (Toya), Brian Washington, Lisa Delgado, Yvonne Delgado; 6 great grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren; numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
