The modeling industry is mourning the loss of one of its brightest stars, Renauld White. With a heavy heart, we bid farewell to this remarkable individual who left a mark on the fashion world that can never be forgotten. Renauld White was not just a Super Model but also actor, activist, and martial artist.
He was born February 1,1944 to the late Maybelline Scott White and Robert White, Sr. in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Westside High School and attended classes at Rutgers University in the City of Newark. Renauld also resided in the City of East Orange where he was loved and adored by many.
Fashion first entered Renauld's world through his parents. In the 1950s, his mother modeled hats, and he was shaped by his father's inherent elegance when he wore suits. "I was blessed with good-looking parents," Renauld acknowledged a testament to the powerful influence of his upbringing.
Born with an innate sense of style and grace, Renauld White rose to prominence in the modeling industry. His unique and captivating looks made him a favorite among photographers and designers alike. With his striking features and impeccable poise, he became an icon for aspiring models across the nation.
Renauld's career spanned over a decade, during which he graced numerous magazines such as Essence, Ebony, Jet, and the first African American model to appear on the cover of GQ. He was the first African American male model to endorse "white" men's hair products (Vitalis.) He had TV roles on One Life to Live, General Hospital, Inside Job and The Stepford Wives. He loved the theatre and participated in off Broadway plays such as Anthony and Cleopatra, Twelfth Night, Medea and Obatala, and participated in many plays at the New York Theater. He walked the runways of prestigious fashion shows and collaborated with renowned designers such as Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Jeffrey Banks, and Donna Karan.
His ability to effortlessly embody various styles and personas made him a versatile force to be reckoned with. From high fashion editorials to edgy alternative shoots, Renauld could adapt to any concept and deliver stunning results.
Renauld is also preceded in death by his two brothers Maurice Scott, Robert White Jr., and nephew Bryant Scott.
In addition, he is survived by his brother, Colin White, Sister-in-law; Grace Scott nieces; Felecia Scott, Cherisse White, and devoted niece Alonda Gregory (Ralph) nephew; Anthony Farmer (Wanda), devoted cousins; Lorrie Latifah Williams (Tony) and Juanita Williams, Godchild; Jessica McClintock, devoted caregiver & mentee; Steven B. Walters who was always there taking care of our loved one, and made sure that he attended important events in the fashion industry when Renauld was able to go caregiver; Jerrell Britt, devoted neighbors; Kelly and John DiNardo. Renauld loved his family and had many relatives who all cherish the times spent with him and will miss him very much. Renauld also had friends and work colleagues that love and will miss him very much, and that was evident by the beautiful farewells comments that were posted on social media.
Rest in peace, Renauld White your legacy as a trailblazer and visionary will forever live on. Your contribution to the fashion industry will continue to inspire and empower future generations of models. Your unique style, talent, and passion will be sorely missed, but your influence will continue to shape the industry for years to come.
