Renda Stinson King, 77, passed away on December 29, 2025 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Renda was born on February 9, 1948 in Ashdown, Arkansas to Thurman Allen and Frances Ella Jones Stinson. Renda went to college at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she received her Bachelor of Education, and met her husband of 46 years, Ronald King. She received her Master of Education at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA. Renda taught English and French for 33 years at Woodlawn High School. She was an amazing mother to her two children, Jonathan and Megan, helping with projects, correcting English papers, and chaperoning youth trips. She was a devoted member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church where she loved spending time with her church family, attending Sunday school, and caring for church members who were no longer able to make it to services by showing them loving, practical care, and compassion.
Renda was always out and about- whether that be taking additional courses to receive her Masters plus 30, shopping for the best deals, going out to lunch with friends, attending church functions, taking her family on trips, traveling with her husband, going to garage sales, visiting church members, playing bunco, or catching lizards with her granddaughter, Joanna. When out and about she adored running into her students and former students from Woodlawn High School. When she was spending time at home, she enjoyed a cup of coffee, cooking, and playing brutal games of Shanghai Rummy with family. Her laugh and calming presence were felt and heard throughout her life, and continued during her long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jonathan Stinson King, granddaughter Joanna, daughter Megan Susan King Beecham, and son-in-law Nathaniel Beecham. Renda is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ronald Carroll King, her parents Thurman Allen and Frances Ella Jones Stinson, and sister Susan Frances Stinson.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate the beautiful life of Renda Stinson King at Christ United Methodist Church on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 10:00am. The celebration of life will be led by Rev. Willis Dear and Rev. Dr. Jonathan King.
