Reta Jean Skubal was born on the 3rd of March, 1927 in McDonald, Kansas to C.O. "Chick" and Katie Hubbard. She went to her eternal Home on Saturday the 29th of January, 2022, at the age of 94.
Jean attended Fort Hays State College as a music major where she met her future husband in the parlor of Custer Hall on Saturday, the 9th of November, 1946.
She was united in marriage with Lumir Jess Skubal on the 8th of August, 1948 in the McDonald Federated Church.
Jean dedicated the remainder of her life making a loving home for her husband and three children. A natural teacher, she loved instructing children as a substitute teacher and especially in the art of playing her favorite instrument - the piano. An angelic singer, Jean spent many years performing with the musical organization of Sweet Adelines and numerous choirs. She also loved baking delicious treats including lovely cakes for everyone, sewing beautiful clothing for her family, and spending hours in her flower gardens. Perhaps most of all, as a fervant follower of Jesus Christ, Jean prayed constantly and continuously for everyone she knew and many others who were unaware of the blessings she sent their way.
Jean is survived by her brothers Harlan (wife Joan) and Rodney (wife Donna), sisters Vaulene and Janice, sister-in-law Phyllis; sons Steve and Gary (wife Robyn), son-in-law Lloyd; grandchildren Jessica, Andrya (husband Tom), Michael (wife Courtney), Noelle, Jackson, and Aeowynn; and great-grandchildren Jayvn, Alaina, Breanna, Mysteri, Jolene, Reveri, Aemeri, August, and Poppy. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brother Deroy (wife Phyllis), brothers-in-law Edward (wife Vaulene) and Gilbert (wife Janice), and daughter Sharon (husband Lloyd).
Funeral service will be February 4, 2022 at 10:00AM in the Federated Church in McDonald, KS. Burial will be in Big Timber Cemetery. Condolence can be left at www.paulsfh.com.
