Retha Fern Shelton Brooks, 82, of Denton, TX passed away on February 25, 2026. She was born in Lamesa, Texas on January 19, 1944 to Lee Roy and Lizzie Aleen (Post) Shelton. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Tommy Lee Shelton, RL Shelton, Kenneth Raymon Shelton, Larry Joe Shelton, Winona Jane Gressett, Mamie Joyce Gressett and her twin sister, Rosa Lavern Agnew and her son John Kelly Brooks.
She is survived by two sister-in-laws: Sandy Shelton of Denton, TX and Virginia Shelton of Midland, TX as well as many Nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service to honor Retha's life will be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Trinity Cemetery, located at 712 South Trinity Road, Denton, Texas, 76208. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
Retha was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was devoted to her family and her love will forever be felt in the heart of those she leaves behind.
