Retired Command Sergeant Major Stanley Duane Adams, born October 2, 1935, passed peacefully in Port Charlotte, Florida Hospice House on October 29, 2025, with his wife and family by his side.

Stanley spent 26 ½ years in the United States Army and 11 years with the Fairfax County Sheriff's Department. He was also a member of the American Legion post #177 in Fairfax County, the Fredericksburg Moose lodge #1655, the Elk Lodge #875 and the VFW.

Stanley loved bluegrass music and attended as many festivals as possible. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was a "snowbird" and appreciated his winter months in Florida where he had a community of many good friends. A special thank you goes to Gary Hardin for his support and friendship though out Stanley illness.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 24 years, June P. Adams; sons Martin John (Vickie) of Wilmington, NC, Edward Duane (Jeff) of Wilmington, NC; and daughter Kay Elizabeth Myers of Fredericksburg, VA (Billy). He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Debbie Irby and Cindy O'Neal both of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, Lindsey Holley (Ryan) of Wilmington, NC, Theresa Bradley (Wes) of Stuarts Draft, VA, Joseph Nartowicz (Katherine) of Englewood, CO, Jessica Adams of Wilmington, NC, and Emily Myers of Fredericksburg. Great grandchildren include Keegan Holley, Alisa Bradley, Madison Jackson, Paula Bradley, Nevaeh Myers, Waylon Nartowicz and Kayden Myers-Cook.

Stanley was preceded in death by his late wife, Marlene Ann Adams of 43 years; parents Sheral Adams and Onolea Deale; sisters Vaughna Layton and Jackie Thomas; and brother Floyd Trafford, Jr.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Rev. James G. Newton and Pastor Andrew L. Wheelis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the interment at 2:15 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 445 Woodford St.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Heflin, James Heflin, Mike Powell, Jay Pitts, Michael Shelton and Joe Layton.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 1158 Veronica St, Port Charlotte, FL 33952, American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
