Shirley Connell Adams went home to be with her Lord on October 29th, 2025
She was born in Dade City Jan 29, 1945 to Virgil & Edna Ross Connell. She attended Dade City schools and graduated in 1963. She started office work while a senior in High school under employment at Withlacoochee River Electric. She continued doing office work at Grace Baptist Church & Christian School for 21 years, the Dept. of Corrections and the Clerk of the Circuit Court retiring in 2011. She is survived by one sister, Virginia (Willard) Sessoms, nephews Byron (Susanne) Sessoms, Will Sessoms, niece Theresa (Tim) Gould, great nephews Joseph Sessoms and Alex Gould and great niece, Alyssa Gould, and many cousins and their families. Shirley was married to Blair Adams, Jr. who passed away in 1999. They had two foster children, Tina and Stephanie. Shirley had a love for children in her church and neighborhood working in Children's Church, Sunday School, Bus ministry, Good News clubs, AWANA, and Vacation Bible School. She would often load up her car on Wednesday nights bringing the neighbor children to AWANA. One of Shirley's favorite things to do was to get together with her cousins and remember the fun times they had as children playing at the farm of their grandparents, Robert and Nancy Ross, who moved to Dade City in 1939 and settled on River Road. She enjoyed the study of God's Word and was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years.
A graveside service will take place at the Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 18th at 12:30 PM. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her late husband Blair Adams Jr.
