Reuben Lee Broadaway, 84, departed this life peacefully at his home on October 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 5, 1940, in Bay, Arkansas, to Oland and Joe Broadaway.
Reuben dedicated much of his career to Aero Structures in Nashville, TN, where he worked as a plumber until his retirement. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Reuben was of the Baptist faith and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. Together with his beloved wife, Elizabeth, Reuben spent countless hours tending to their cherished garden, which they lovingly called Broadaway Farm Garden. His passion for working on airplanes, caring for animals, and spending time with family brought him immense joy throughout his life.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, Oland and Joe Broadaway, and all of his siblings. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Broadaway, of their home. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends who will deeply miss his presence.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Bishop Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Wendell King officiating the service. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Dwayne Bishop, L.W. Holladay, Nick McClusky, Kyle Bishop, John T. Bishop, Logan Bishop. Honorary pallbearers are Tammy Hively and Edward Hively.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or St. Bernards Home Hospice in Reuben's memory.
