Rev. A.R. “Bro. Bo” Curlee, 84, of Buena Vista, GA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Oakland Church of God at 2:00PM with Rev. Hulet Smith, Rev. Steven Toole and Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pastor Josh Carter, Pastor Tommy Bradford, Pastor Roger Morrison, Pastor Jeff Johnson, Pastor Neal Sanders and Pastor Lamar Lee. The family will greet friends on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in Oakland Church of God.
Bro. Bo was born July 18, 1940, in Richland, GA to George and Doris Jamieson Curlee. As a child, with his determination, he attended Richland First Baptist Church on his own for over 6 years without missing a Sunday. He began his ministerial career at Brown Springs Church of God in 1962 before moving to Oakland Church of God in 1968 where he would minister for 45 years, until 2013. During his tenure at Oakland Church of God, the church saw growth in the congregation as well as the facilities. Expansion of the church building as well as the addition of a baptistery, paved parking lot, and a large fellowship hall. Later, the church grounds grew bigger to accommodate a basketball court and walking track, as well as baseball and volleyball courts. Bro. Bo enjoyed making BBQ for the community. He also worked with R.C. Cola and Waldrop Printing in Columbus, while serving Oakland Church of God as their pastor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Curlee, a sister, Doris Bell and brother-in-law, Edward Hutto.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Daphene Curlee; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Curlee Bowen and Richard; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Morrow and Konnor Morrow; nieces and nephews, Annette Hutto, James Earl Hutton and Rodney Hutto.
Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
