Rev. Bobby Earl Fagan, 84, of Lubbock, was called to heaven by his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, February 1, 2024, surrounded by his dear and loving family.  Rev. Fagan was born on April 7, 1939, in Pauls Valley, Garvin County, Oklahoma, to the late Roy Richard Fagan and Polly Jane (Anderson) Fagan.

He attended school in Oklahoma, graduating from Cheyenne High School in 1957.  He attended Oklahoma City University for one year, in 1958, and then attended Panhandle State University from 1959 to 1960.  He then attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, graduating in 1975.

He met the love of his life, Beverly Earnst, and they were united in marriage on October 31, 1959, in Shattuck, Ellis County, Oklahoma.

Rev. Fagan served as a Youth Minister for the Kingston Avenue Baptist Church in Odessa for one year, then pastored at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Kermit for five years.  A calling brought him to Memorial Baptist Church, in Lubbock, and he served as their pastor for 32 years, before retiring in 2012.

He had a passion for golf, fishing, camping and woodworking.  He loved and spoiled his grandchildren and was an all-around family man at heart.  He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Beverly; his children:  Vanessa Kay Waldrop and husband John of Bondurant, Iowa, Bobbi Jeannine Butts and husband Michael of Lubbock, Leslie D’Ann Fagan of Lubbock, Marcus Roy Fagan and wife Christy of Lubbock; one brother, Roy Walter Fagan and wife Margaret of Brazoria; one sister, Ruth Evelyn Hughes of Clinton, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; Lynette Minzer and Jeff Cook, both of Lubbock, close family friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margie Rich; two brothers, W. C. Fagan and Vernon Fagan; his stepfather, Charlie A. Myers and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Fe Butts.

There will be no planned visitation for Rev. Fagan.   Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.  The Fagan Family will be leading the service for Rev. Fagan.  Final rites and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
