Rev. Christopher LaMont Washington affectionately known as (Chris) was born July 22, 1972 to
Nina Washington and Robert Williams in Tyler, TX. Chris graduated from John Tyler High
School in 1990.
Chris married Shakeitha LaShell Washington June 1, 2021. They shared a beautiful life
together until his passing.
Chris worked for Journey of the Heart Daycare until he faced complications with his health and
could no longer work.
Chris was a member of Open Door Ministries where he also served as the assistant pastor.
While in ministry, Chris was ordained as Deacon on February 9, 2020, Licensed as a minister
on April 11, 2021, and ordained as Pastor on April 10, 2022, and served as the Personal
Assistant to The Greater East Texas Baptist Association Rev. Shelton Oliver. To enhance his
ministry Chris obtained several certifications under the National Baptist Convention , Phase 1 of
Sunday School Publishing Board, Nashville, Tennessee, and served as a facilitator for the
Southwest Region Diabetic Seminar.
Chris loved to barbecue, and play dominoes. Most importantly he loved going to church and
spreading the gospel to all that were willing and able to listen, his family, and coaching little
league baseball (Angels) from 2020 to 2023 who won the championship in 2023, receiving a
championship ring and award in 2024. After that he umpired from 2024-2025. He was also an
avid Washington Commanders (Redskins) fan in a family full of Cowboys lovers.
Remaining to cherish Chris’s memory are his wife, Shakeetha Washington; his children,
Shakeela Washington, Christopher Washington, Jr, Jacobi Washington, and Lakeeyssa Cooper;
grandchildren, Samiyah Hodge, Shayla Hodge, Dadrianna Ballard, and William Walters;
parents, Nina Washington (Mother), Robert Earl Williams (Father); brothers, Corey Washington,
and Michael Williams, Gregory Rolling Jr; sisters, Stephanie Washington, and Francis Simon;
uncles; Travis, Rickey, JaCalvary Williams, Antonia, and Tracey Washington, John Wayne and
Timothy Rolling; aunts; Donna Morehead, Tammy Washington, and Shirley Pierce, Nettie
Rolling-Brown, Marilyn and Cassandra Rolling.
Preceding Chris in death are Gregory Rollings (bonus father), Margine Harkless (bonus mom),
Louis and Florine Washington (maternal grandparents), Jim and Rubie Rollings (bonus
grandparents), Othella Spigner (god-mother), and a host of other relatives.
