Rev. John Logan Roberts, affectionately known as "Logan", of Stinnett, Kentucky, passed away on June 9, 2025, at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital in Hyden, Kentucky. He was 88 years old. Born on March 26, 1937, he lived a life dedicated to his family, faith, and community.
Logan was a skilled self-employed carpenter whose craftsmanship and dedication to his work were admired by many. Throughout his life, he found great joy in his hobbies, which included attending church, where he nurtured his spiritual connections, supporting the University of Kentucky basketball team, enjoying classic western films, and tending to his beloved garden. He truly cherished being outdoors, finding solace and peace in nature.
He is survived by his brothers, Rev. Eugene "Friday" Roberts (Barbara) and James Quentin Roberts (Wilma); his sisters, Anna Lee Roberts Hoskins and Margie Roberts Vaughn; sisters-in-law, Belvia Roberts, Judy Roberts, Imogene Morgan, Phyllis Morgan, Audrey Morgan and Angela Morgan. A loving family that includes his grandchildren, John David Hoskins (Megan), Matthew B. Hoskins (Rhae), and Jessica Rice (Justin). Furthermore, he was blessed with great-grandchildren Cameron, Haleigh, Harper, Alexander Logan, Lucas, Arya, Allie—who also served as a special caretaker—and Alyvia and Parker, son-in-law, Norman Ray Hoskins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
Logan was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Jim Roberts and Oakie Smith Roberts; his cherished wife, Lucille Morgan Roberts; his daughter, Debbie Rose Roberts Hoskins; and three infant children, daughters Jean and Judy Ann, and a son. He also mourns the loss of his siblings, Pauline, Imogene, Loretta, Carl, and Bobby.
Rev. John Logan Roberts leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and an enduring spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, family devotion, and community service. He will be sorely missed, yet fondly remembered by all whose lives he impacted.
