Reverend Larry R. Hyder, age 78, husband of Fran Hyder of Chesnee passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025 surrounded by his family and beloved dogs.
Reverend Hyder was born on October 1, 1947 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Marion and Ruth Adkins Hyder. He was a graduate of Emory University School of Divinity. He served Tabernacle, Golightly, Fosters Chapel, Bethlehem, Roebuck, Ben Avon, Mt. Vernon, and Canaan Methodist Churches. Larry loved going on outings with the youth and senior church groups. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and his favorite place to be was on his boat at Lake Lure. Affectionately known as Pop, he loved and cherished his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jason Arnold (Judy) of Chesnee and Olivia Brackins (Bryan) of Union; Grandchildren Alex Arnold, Trey Stephenson (Destiny), Jay Arnold, Madison (Brayden) Kingsmore, Katie Arnold; Bonus Grandchildren Wilson Brackins (Asia), Kinsley Brackins, and Olivia Peters (Ty); Great Grandchild Serenity; Bonus Great Grandchildren Easton, Raelynn, Lakelyn, Carlee, and Mia; Niece Tammy Sain (Johnny), Richard Hyder, and Melissa Pridemore (Greg) and as well as other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Nancy, Troy, Kathy and Tommy.
The family would like to thank Agape Care Group.
A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
