Rev. Paul Edwin Brown Sr., a beloved figure in the Dallas community, departed this life on August 25, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on March 20, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, he was a dedicated ordained minister since the early 1990s, serving his congregation with unwavering faith and commitment.
Rev. Brown was known for being a good listener, a trait that endeared him to many who sought solace and guidance in their times of need. Throughout his ministry, he became not just a shepherd to his flock but also a warm-hearted friend to those who crossed his path. His outgoing and fiery personality, combined with a deep sense of loyalty and protective nature, made him a cherished member of the community.
He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marines in 1968. In addition to his military service, he enjoyed a variety of interests including dominoes, spades, chess, and reading. An enthusiast for fashion and a regular at church services, Rev. Brown embodied a zest for life that inspired those around him.
Rev. Brown's educational journey took him through L.G. Pinkston and furthered through Job Corp, a foundation that helped him throughout his life. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his family, which included his sons Curtis Charles Brown, Paul Edwin Brown Jr., Brian Keith Hampton, Brennan Tremaine Brown, Jerren Rashad Brown, and daughter Joanna Shanae Brown. He was also a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and delighted in the company of 10 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Curtis Daniel Brown, and his mother, Rose Evelyn Bookman-Roberts. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his surviving family members and friends, who remember him as a guiding light in their lives.
His life will be celebrated with a Prayer Service on September 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leath Street Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1831 Canada Dr, Dallas, TX 75212. A Funeral Service will follow on September 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1932 Dennison Street, Dallas, TX 75212. He will be laid to rest with honors on September 4, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
Rev. Paul Edwin Brown Sr. will be deeply missed, yet his spirit and teachings will continue to resonate within the community and live on through his family.
