Rev. William “Bill” Curtis Padgett, 78, of Batesburg, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born on August 11, 1947, in Aiken, he was the son of the late Curtis and Mary Ellen Hall Padgett. Rev. Padgett honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he formed lasting bonds of brotherhood with fellow servicemen. Following his military service, he was called into ministry and faithfully served as a pastor for many years. For over two decades, he was the pastor of Convent Baptist Church, where he provided spiritual leadership, guidance, and care to his congregation and community. Bill was most proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, whose lives and accomplishments brought him great joy.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Padgett; daughters, Meagan Schilling (Nick) and MacKenzie Long; son, Darrel Long; grandchildren, Ellie Schilling, Mia Schilling, Colton Schilling, Lex Long, and Maddox Long; sister, Kay Dorrell (Vernon); and many extended family members. In addition to his parents, Rev. Padgett was preceded in death by a daughter, Meredith Elise Padgett, and a sister, Gail Padgett Brown.
The service to honor the life of Rev. Padgett will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, September 28th, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Ridge Spring, with Rev. Vollie Gibbs and Rev. Matt Miller officiating.
