Reva Louise Swift Dirickson, devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and faithful friend to all, passed peacefully with a full heart on March 27, 2024 at the age of 81.
Reva was born on July 2, 1942 in Hominy Falls to Bowlin and Thelma Swift, and was raised on a dairy farm in Collinsville, OK. As the youngest girl of eight kids, Reva would learn the value of hard work at a young age as her tenacity and strong will would push her to keep up with her older siblings whom she adored. Reva loved growing up on a farm and always attributed her strong work ethic and practical life skills to her upbringing.
In 1959, Reva married the love of her life, Jim Dirickson and soon had three children, Vanessa, Steve, and Janna. Jim and Reva raised their family in Collinsville, a community that Reva loved dearly and was always proud to be a part of. An extraordinary homemaker, she loved being a mom and wife and took great pride in her family and home. Reva was a fabulous cook, kept an impeccable (and always perfectly decorated) home, established special traditions for her family that will be passed down for generations, and maintained the most beautiful flower gardens, always sharing her flowers to brighten someone's day. Incredibly capable, creative, and resourceful, Reva had the unique ability to make everything beautiful even the most simple things. Her hospitality was unmatched. She never ceased to open her home without hesitation to anyone that needed a hot meal, place to stay, family to celebrate the holidays with, or someone to talk to.
As her children grew older, Reva worked at OK Food Market and Super H in Collinsville and later went to work at First Bank of Owasso before following her passion for nutrition as a Nutrition Assistant at Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa. Reva's career was marked by one thing which she was most passionate about helping people.
Reva loved people. She was genuinely interested in people of all ages and all walks of life. She had a gift of making people feel seen and valued and did so in the most authentic way. She was a crusader and an advocate, someone you wanted in your corner. In every season of her life, she found opportunities to mentor others as she faithfully poured into the generations behind her from teaching the Pioneer Girls at church, to leading the preschool Sunday School class, to helping formerly incarcerated women get back on their feet through Dress for Success, to taking in young moms under her wing in her community. Reva brought life wherever she went and made a difference in countless lives.
Reva and Jim served as Deacons at Westport Mennonite Brethren Church in Collinsville for many years before attending Oologah Assembly of God. Reva loved serving on the hospitality committee at church and singing in the church choir in her younger years.
Reva loved to travel (especially with her camping club), loved music of all genres (especially bluegrass), loved any opportunity to spend time with her family (especially her great-grandchildren), and loved to dance (especially with her love, Jim, with whom she never missed a dance).
Reva is survived by her family whom she cherished more than anything: her beloved husband of nearly 65 years whom she adored, Jim Dirickson of Collinsville, OK; daughters Vanessa Grubb (Dave) of Sapulpa, OK and Janna Sandridge (Dave) of San Antonio, TX; son Steve Dirickson (Emily) of Owasso, OK; her seven grandchildren: Blake Sink of Vera, OK, Mollie Collins (Jody) of Tulsa,OK, Holly Burch of San Antonio,TX, Rachel Lucas (Ben) of Claremore, OK, Meredith Sandridge of Austin, TX, Perry Dirickson of Owasso, OK, and Oliver Dirickson of Owasso, OK; eight great-grandchildren: Ashley Collins, Isabelle Ramirez, Davis Collins, Kate Collins, Riley Lucas, Harlyn Sink, Sam Collins, and Elena Lucas; brother Harvey Swift (Renae) of Rogers, AR; and countless nieces, nephews, and close friends whom she called family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bowlin and Thelma Swift, sisters Nita Pavey, Christine Smith, and Ellen Miller; and brothers Carl Swift, Leon Swift, and Burl Swift.
Strong, bold, kind, loving, steadfast, and generous there was no one like Reva! She will be missed tremendously, but her legacy of faith, friendship, and family will live on.
Services for Reva will be held at Oologah Assembly of God on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Alzheimer's Association Oklahoma Chapter, Little Light House, or Dress For Success Tulsa causes Reva was extremely passionate about.
