Revelly Jean Swigert DVM

Dr. Revelly "Jean" Swigert DVM age 69 passed away Sunday June 29, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. Jean was born November 27, 1955 in Shelbyville, Kentucky at the King's Daughter Hospital. Jean was a lifelong member of Finchville Baptist Church. She was very active in the church choir. She sang with the Derby City Chorus and Feisty Four Quartet in Louisville. Jean was a graduate of Shelby County High School Class of 1973. She attended Murray State University, graduated from the University of Kentucky in December 1978 with a BS in Agriculture. Jean attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM degree in June 1986. Dr. Jean started her veterinary practice with Dixie Animal Hospital in Louisville. Later on, she opened her own business in 2007 named Derby Animal Hospital, on Poplar Level Road until 2020. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Revel Duncan Swigert, Jr. Jean is survived by her mother, Norma Jean Swigert of Louisville, Kentucky, her brother, Michael Duncan Swigert (Janell) of Shelbyville, Kentucky, her nephews, Michael David Swigert (Tammy), Mark Duncan Swigert (Journey), her great nephews, Michael Dale Swigert and Matthew David Swigert. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 5, 2025 at the Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Rearden officiating. Burial will follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday July 4, 2025 at the funeral home.
