Rex Buehring Obituary

Rex Allen Buehring

September 8, 1948 - February 5, 2026

Rex Allen Buehring passed into God's loving arms on February 5, 2026.

Born September 8, 1948 to Arnold and Elizabeth Buehring in Billings, Mont. The family moved to Bridger, Mont., where he grew up along with his sisters, Judy Lynn (D) and Bonnie Higdon (D). He excelled in basketball and football while in high school and had a lifelong love of sports. He graduated from Eastern Montana College, Billings and moved to Conrad, Mont., where he taught and was recreation director, and later took a position as a field rep with Conoco Oil in Glendive, Mont.

He then moved to Billings and was a successful realtor for many years. He ended his working career as an insurance agent (29 years) with Globe Life. He was an umpire and loved coaching baseball at Boulder Arrowhead, winning a state championship in 1984. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time exploring and hunting with his sons. After moving to Red Lodge, Mont. permanently, he enjoyed hiking snowshoeing, rafting, and looking for golf balls with his grandsons, Tristan and Cody, and his dog, Lilley - together they found over 10,000 golf balls! Rex had a huge personality - always the life at any gathering, quick to tell a joke, befriended everyone and never forgot a name or a face. If he happened to spot you wearing any Pittsburgh Steelers apparel - let the conversation begin!

He is survived by his wife, Kasey; sons, Jason (children, Kailey and Jordan), Justin (sons, Tristan and Cody, Josh (daughter, Jessie); step-daughters, Libby White (Andrew and BB), Lindsey Zielke (Jes Waite); special niece, Valerie Batten and nephew, Greg Higdon; sister-in-law, Sue Larson; brother-in-law, Jack Lamb (wife, Mary and their children, Ryan, Sara (Alexander). We would like to thank all the friends, neighbors, and family for all the love, kindness, and support shown to Rex during this time. Also thank you to Dr. Fouts, Pastor Bryan, Becky and Lynette from hospice for all your care and compassion.

While our hearts are heavy today, we are grateful for the memories, the stories, the laughter and the impact he left behind. His spirit lives on and he will remain in our hearts with much love forever. Per his wishes a family gathering will be held and his ashes spread in his favorite location. May he rest in God's eternal peace.

Yesterday

Kasey, Jason, Justin, and Josh, We want you to know how sorry we are for your loss. "Uncle Rex" was a major part of our lives for many years. He was loud, funny and sometimes obnoxious but we always looked forward to see him. He was great with the kids when they were little, always spending lots of time playing with them along side his own boys. It´s been sometime since we have seen Rex but we will never forget his full head of hair, his good looks and his outgoing personality! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

I grew up with Rex in Bridger and though I was 4 years younger, I considered him a best friend and always one who would stick up for me. There was never a dull moment with Rex as he was full energy and enthusiasm. In Junior High School my two sports idols were Rex and Terry Haney. He had the personality of his mother and they taught us how to live life with much vigor.I will think of Rex from time to time for the remainder of my life. In know he is in the perfect place with his wonderful family.

I knew Rex very well in the 1980's. We both worked for Kreitzberg Associates, Inc. If he wasn't scaring me, he was making me laugh. He loved those boys of his.

Mr Buehring,as I knew him ,was my teacher in Conrad Montana. I was in the class of 1975. I adored him. He was fun and funny and one of the most memorable teachers I had in my life. I was a total giggly goofy chatterbox! He had his hands full with me! I'm 67 years old and I can look back and see his face perfectly. I'm sorry to hear of his passing but it sounds to me like his life was most beautiful and enjoyable and had so many loved ones surrounding him. He will forever be in my heart he was always one of my favorites and wow !!! what a great teacher he was! We were a particularly cheeky class! My best regards, love to the family
