Rex Allen Lawson

Rex Allen Lawson, 63, of Ocklawaha, Florida, passed away peacefully from this earth into the arms of his Lord and Savior on the morning of October 18, 2025. Rex was born on April 23, 1962, in Tipton, Indiana, to Phillip and Sandra Lawson. Rex was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 21 years, Doreen Kisacky. Rex was a proud father to his daughter, Alicia Parker (Derek), his son, Nathaniel Lawson (Joey), and his stepdaughters, Courtney Stark (John) and Jennifer Hammond (Bryan), his brothers, Terri Lawson (Renee), Paul Lawson, and Donald Lawson (Erica), and his 11 grandchildren, Aubrey, Bryson, Kaylee, Carley, Haley, Daxton, Jacob, Waylon, Rebecca, Tessa, and Brynlee.
Rex's life was defined by his deep connection to agriculture and his commitment to mentoring others. He worked various jobs in Indiana, drove truck, and worked as an ironworker. But Rex found his true calling as a sheep shepherd and small ruminant specialist, which led to the cherished moment at the Central Florida Fair when, amidst the bleating of sheep and the bustle of the fairgrounds, Rex's warm smile and servant spirit captured Doreen's heart.
His expertise led him to judge sheep at multiple shows across the Southeast, develop an active sheep breeding program in Apopka and Ocklawaha, and assist with the livestock judging program at the University of Florida. A dedicated supporter of youth in agriculture, Rex was a mentor, teacher, and cheerleader for kids in FFA and 4H. He served as a superintendent and an active member of the sheep committees for the Central Florida Fair and Florida State Fair, leaving a lasting impact on the sheep community.
Rex was a member of Tri-County Baptist Church in Lady Lake. He brought the Christmas story to life as a shepherd in live nativity scenes throughout Central Florida. His gentle presence and care for the animals added a special warmth to the scenes.
"At the end of the day", Rex's legacy will endure through the knowledge he imparted, the love he shared so freely, and his grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a special day of remembrance, connection, and celebration on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 3pm at the Family Farm.
