Frederick Robert Jones, 61, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family. Fred was born on April 12, 1964, in Lansing, Michigan, to Dick and Kathy Jones. A devoted husband, loving son, brother, uncle, and proud grandfather, Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Gehlbach Jones, of Leesburg, Florida. He is also survived by his parents, Dick and Kathy Jones; father-in-law Jerry Gehlbach; his sister, Sheryl Jones Bloch (Steven Bloch); sisters-in-law Deborah Howard (Glen Howard), Dana Hicks (Ryon Hicks); his stepchildren, Jeffrey Melton (Holly Melton), Danielle Melton (Josh Hayzlip), and Lindsey Melton; his niece, Kristen Shuler (Tim Shuler); his treasured grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., Carlee, Katelyn, Cadence, Aleah, Kiley, Skylar, and Colton; and great-niece and nephew Lily and Bradley. Fred proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Petty Officer First Class and receiving an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he continued his lifelong dedication to public service as a Senior Equipment Operator with the Florida Department of Transportation, a position he held since 2007. Fred was a respected and valued team member, known for his strong work ethic, exceptional skill, and positive spirit. His contributions made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. Outside of work and service, Fred enjoyed fishing, beach trips-especially to Sanibel Island-and visiting theme parks. However, nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family. A service to honor and celebrate Fred's life will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Fred's family and friends were his greatest joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg, Florida.
