On October 2, 2025, Charlie Hargrove passed away at the age of 84 in Leesburg, Florida. Charlie was born on January 1, 1941, to the late Charlie and Lizzie Hargrove in Manson, North Carolina. He was the second of six children, four of whom preceded him in death. Charlie migrated with his family to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was educated in the Philadelphia school system. Charlie worked at various restaurants in the Philadelphia area before joining his brother Samuel in Boston, Massachusetts. When not in his transit uniform Charlie was always immaculately dressed in one of his many suits, ties, hats, and shoes. Charlie enjoyed onshore fishing and fishing charters. He also enjoyed cooking, especially for large groups whether a barbecue, dance hall event, wedding, or holiday gathering. Charlie met Portia and they married on October 16, 1989. They moved to Leesburg, Florida in 2006. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife Portia, his children, Kevin Hargrove, Charlita James (Tim); Stepdaughter Donna Scott (James "Jae"), Stepson Howard Scott (Rhonda); Sister Cynthia Hargrove and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
