Rex Mahy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations - La Grange on Dec. 31, 2025.
Rex Lee Mahy, 72, took his final journey on December 29, 2025, in La Grange, Texas. While his lifelong dream was to see the Northern Lights, his family takes comfort in knowing that he has now ascended to become a part of them.
Born in Houston, Texas, on June 20, 1953, to Herbert and Katherine Mahy, Rex grew up in Spring, Texas. He was a goofy, active kid who loved getting into things he shouldn't-a trait of every happy child.
Rex spent his career in alarm systems and telecommunications, using his strong back and big heart to support the family he adored. He was a natural protector of his flock, a quality proven by his achievement as a 4th-degree black belt.
He was a man who knew what he liked: hunting, shooting guns, and traveling with his wife, Anne. But his favorite moments were often the simplest ones, specifically enjoying a nice pour of bourbon with his boys.
To know Rex was to know a man who was kind, opinionated, and unapologetically goofy. He was a man of strong convictions but was always willing to listen and grow. He loved games, joking around, and simply "doing whatever" with his family. To Rex, time spent with the people he loved was paramount to anything else in the world.
Rex is survived by his wife, Anne Mahy; his sons, Brian and Wesley Mahy; to quote Rex, his favorite daughter-in-law Emily; his brothers, Frank and Chris Mahy; and his sister, Peggy Mahy. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Herbert and Katherine.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and love. He will be deeply missed, but every time we look up at the night sky, we'll know he is there.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Community Theatre, P.O. Box 697, La Grange, TX 78945 ([email protected]) or to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl, La Grange, Texas. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com.
