Rex Bruce McMinn Jr., born on July 31, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Robstown, Texas. He is remembered as a dedicated individual who devoted much of his life to serving his community and embracing the joys of life with passion and enthusiasm.
Rex had a commendable career as a Jailor for the Kingsville Sheriff’s Department and later served as a Constable for Kleberg County. His commitment to his work highlighted his sense of duty and responsibility towards public safety and law enforcement.
A proud veteran, Rex served in the United States Army, where he cultivated a strong sense of discipline and camaraderie that would stay with him throughout his life. His military service is a testament to his character and dedication to his country.
Rex was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his love of life. He cherished the simple pleasures of fishing, boating, and riding motorcycles. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories with family and friends.
Rex held dear relationships with his family, who will continue to carry his memory. He is survived by his wife, Petra, and his companion, Selena. His legacy lives on through his children: Jordan McMinn, Daryll Grimmes, Gabriel Castillo, Adolf Castillo, David Castillo, and Drake Morrison. His daughters, Patty Castillo and Mary McMinn, along with his sisters, Carolyn and Iris, also cherish their memories of a remarkable man who touched their lives in countless ways.
Rex was predeceased by his father, Rex McMinn Sr., and mother, Mary McMinn, whose guidance shaped the man he became, and his beloved sister Betty.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on July 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the vibrant life of a man who exemplified love, strength, and dedication.
