Rex Hardy Pitman, age 73, passed away on October 10, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1951, in DeRidder, Louisiana to Duford Hardy Pitman and Dorothy Mae Pitman.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Funeral services honoring the life of Rex will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Bro. David Radford. Honoring Rex as pallbearers will be Jessie Keith, Fred Ebey III, John Ebey, William (Bubba) Brothers Jr., Ray Parish, and Nick Parish. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Fred Ebey Jr., Kirby Hill, Tommy Holder, George Hilburn, and Steve Tingle.

Rex graduated from Woodlawn High School, class of 1970. He was married 51 years to his loving wife, Paula. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, leatherwork, playing guitar and singing with the guys at church, and spent many years coaching little league at Sunset Acres. Rex was employed for 18 years with Arkla Gas and worked inside sales for several years at Graybar, he then finished his employed years at NOV, from where he retired in 2006. 

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Duford and Dorothy Pitman; brothers, Jimmy Simmons and Doug Pitman; sister, Darlene Hare. He is survived by his wife, Paula Pitman; sons, James Pitman and Chad Pitman and wife Amy; grandchildren, Izabella Sandifer (mother Barbara) and Riley Pitman; brothers, Jerry Simmons and Bob Simmons; along with special friends/caregivers, Connie Dukes and Twyla Tamez.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to North DeSoto Church of God building fund.
