Rex Sanders Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christian Sells Funeral Home on Dec. 13, 2025.
Rex Sanders, age 76, passed away on December 11 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Rex Sanders was born on August 3,1949 to John and Vita Sanders in Halfway Missouri. Rex was the eldest of seven children. He grew up moving with his family to various parts of the United States. His family was living in California where he met Martha Williams in 1965. He and Martha married on February 17, 1966. They were happily married for 59 years and gave life to two children: Terry Sanders and Pamela Austin.
Rex Sanders worked as a mechanic in the coal mines in Kentucky and then after moving to Tennessee worked as a millwright for the local glass plant. He retired in 2011, which gave him more time to do what he loved, working on and rebuilding race cars and hotrods. He was a natural craftsman and fixer of most things. He did woodwork and metal works for various projects.
Rex Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vita Sanders and one grandson, James David Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Martha of the home, his son, Terry and Fawna of Oklahoma, his daughter, Pamela and David Austin of Alabama, and his six siblings, Larry, Kay, Brenda, Hershel, Tony, and Paula. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Sherry, Scott, Rebecca, Amber, Paul, Johnathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Jessica, Jennifer, James, and Terry Jr., and his 12 great-grandchildren. Rex had many friends he enjoyed visiting with about all subjects surrounding cars, work, and about general day-to-day life in the south.
Memorial service will be conducted 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 15, 2025 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home, Rogersville with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating.
