Rhoda S. Blake, 88, died November 14, 2024.
Rhoda was born in Newark and formerly of Hillside and Bridgewater before moving to Somerset in 2012. She was a 1952 graduate of Hillside High School. Rhoda attended University of Vermont and then graduated from Boston University with a BS degree in 1954. She was employed as a speech pathologist for Dunellen Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1994. In her spare time, she enjoyed tennis, skiing, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Rhoda will be sadly missed by all.
Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Irwin Blake, son Jeff Blake and his wife Kelly, daughter Shari Blake Schnee and her husband Jonathan, a brother Harris Alper and his wife Fran, a sister Janis Brams and her husband Michael, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10am Sunday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin.
