Rhonda Kay Akins Epperson

Mrs. Rhonda Kay Epperson, of Rocky Face, Georgia, a devout disciple of Christ, dedicated wife, selfless mother, caring Nana, and caregiver to all, won her battle with cancer and entered the presence of the Lord on November 28, 2025. Rhonda will be remembered for her outgoing spirit, boundless generosity, and unwavering love.

Born in Dalton, Georgia, on July 3, 1957, Rhonda was the daughter of J.B. and Thelma Akins. She grew up attending church regularly, visiting many congregations as she deepened her Christian discipleship. A graduate of Dalton High School, Rhonda later married the love of her life, Doy Epperson, on June 1, 1979. She worked in several textile manufacturing facilities before becoming a full-time caregiver to her husband and three children in a role she embraced wholeheartedly.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Thelma Akins; her in-laws, Bo and Freida Epperson and Imogene Epperson; sister-in-law, Rhonda LaVelle Epperson; and her beloved daughter, Britne’ Angel.

She is survived by her loving husband, Doy Epperson; her son, Greg Epperson; her daughter and son-in-law, Brea and Edward Padgett; and her treasured grandchildren, Cady, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Autum, Noah, Conner, Jaxson, Aubrey, Lilly, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her brothers, Charlie Akins and Marty Akins; in-laws, Herman and Betty Epperson, Keith Epperson and Donna McClure, John and Darla Weisser, Susie Epperson, and Allen and Patricia Massengill; extended family Buddy and Lita Padgett and Eddie Mowles; and a wide circle of loved ones whose lives she touched deeply.

Rhonda was a caregiver in every sense of the word. She often stepped in to care for those who had no one else, offering compassion without hesitation. She cherished her family and built strong connections across generations, passing down the love, wisdom, and values instilled in her. Rhonda was also an avid gardener, a talented crafter, and a lover of music and singing, especially when lifting her voice in praise. Above all, her greatest joy was simply being with her family. No matter the occasion, Rhonda’s heart was fullest when everyone was together.

A celebration of Rhonda’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at The River Community Church, 2410 Cleveland Highway, Dalton, Georgia. She will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Love’s Funeral Home. Messages of sympathy may be shared through the funeral home’s online guestbook.

Though small in stature, Rhonda carried a powerful presence and made a profound impact on everyone she met. She gave a piece of herself to each person whose life she touched. The greatest of those gifts was love—a love we will carry with us until the day we are reunited again.
