Loving wife, mother, Maw Maw, Mae Mae, grandmother, nanny, and friend to many, Rhonda
Grassel Florane passed into the arms of angels on December 1, 2025, at the age of 58. Always
in our hearts, we'll miss her heart, her laugh, and her unconditional love until we meet again.
Born December 21, 1966, in
New Orleans, Louisiana, to Ronald Grassel and Mary Ann Grassel,
Rhonda grew up in Kenner and graduated from Bonnabel High School. She was happily
married for 35 years and raised her family in Chalmette, Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina
destroyed their home, Rhonda did what she always did - she came back and put her family
back together, piece by piece, with the quiet resilience that defined her. She worked with people
throughout her career, in retail, restaurants, and offices, but it was her family and community
where she truly shined.
Rhonda's heart was biggest when it came to her family. She never missed a band concert,
football game, or school performance. During Disney trips, she was famous for flying by on the
fastest scooter setting, always cheering the loudest, loving the hardest. She treasured visits
from her Jaycie, celebrated every achievement of Marissa and Makayla, and had a special way
of spoiling all her grandchildren (and even her grandcat, Drexel!)
Rhonda is survived by her beloved husband Michel Florane; her sons Jason Florane, Justin
Florane, and Jared Florane; daughters-in-law Shannon, Joli, and Eryn; her sister Julie Dorazio
(Steven); her brother Ronald "Ronnie" Grassel Jr. (Brandy); her grandchildren Marissa Florane,
Makayla Florane, and Jaycie Florane; her nieces and nephews Courtney Pellerin, Gannon
Grassel, Claudia Grassel, and Colin Dorazio.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Grassel, and her father, Ronald Grassel.
Her kindness and light warmed everyone who stood in it. She was so loved and will be so
incredibly missed.
Friends and family are invited to join for a Visitation and Celebration of Life on December 18,
2025, from 10 AM until 11:30 AM at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans,
LA 70124. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
