Allen Family Funeral Options - PlanoRhumel Eugene Lundberg, born April 26, 1941, in Storm Lake, Iowa to Alvin and Irene Lundberg passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025.
Rhumel spent his early years in Iowa before his family relocated to Plano, Texas, in 1956. He was a proud graduate from Plano High School in 1959. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Rhumel’s greatest joy came from the love of his family.
He met his lifelong partner, Rita Riley of Mckinney, Texas in 1960. The two were married in 1962 and recently celebrated 63 years of loving marriage.
Rhumel enjoyed a fulfilling 35-year career at Texas Instruments, where he played a role in the company’s evolution from calculators to a global leader in semiconductors.
He had many passions. He loved coaching his sons in Plano’s youth sports programs and cherished family vacations, especially those spent exploring Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon. He was an avid sailing enthusiast; he spent countless afternoons and weekends on Lake Lavon with his sons.
Perhaps nothing brought Rhumel more pride than being a lifelong supporter of the Plano Wildcats football team. He traveled the state each fall with his sons, cheering the Wildcats on through all seven of their state championships.
After retiring in 2000, Rhumel embraced new hobbies such as gold and continued spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He shared wisdom drawn from his life experiences and served as a steady source of guidance and love. He will be deeply missed.
Rhumel is survived by his beloved wife, Rita, his sons, Ross Lundberg and wife Heather of Allen, Texas, Randall Lundberg and wife Shannon of Wylie, Texas, and Ryan Lundberg of Sachse, Texas; and his grandchildren, Harrison and Chloe Lundberg (Randall), and Olivia Lundberg (Ross), his sister Rochelle Stubbs of Denton, Texas; and his brother Brian Lundberg of Humble, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday September 5, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
