Obituary for Richard G. McMakin and Diane K. McMakin
Richard G. McMakin passed away on February 10, 2025. His beloved wife, Diane K. McMakin followed him to be with the Lord on February 16, 2025. Their love story began when they met in High School and continued through 55 years of marriage. Together they raised three children, Julie (husband George), Kirk (proceeded them in death in 2012), and Ryan (wife Analisa ). Their pride and joy were their grandkids George III, Cole, Michael, Abby, Rian and Leighton whom they adored and spoiled every opportunity they could.
Richard was a generous and hard-working man that provided for his family steadily until he passed. He took care of the love of his life when she became ill and never imagined it any other way. Richard is most remembered for his hard work whether it be in business or family, his witty humor, and his silly stories and jokes.
Diane was Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1967 and took that knowledge with her as an Executive Administrative Assistant in Rockport schools before retiring. She is most remembered for her soft-spoken voice, the tremendous kindness she showed others and her love for cooking and animals.
Although sadness overwhelms our family at this time, we cannot help but have our hearts full of warmth that one could not survive without the other and they are reunited again.
