Richard L. Ash

Richard L. Ash "Richie" 79 of Union died November 3, 2022. Born in South Orange, he resided in Maplewood and Union. A graduate of Columbia HS in Maplweood, Richie was the Animal Control Officer in South Orange for 43 years prior to his retirement in 2012. He is a US Navy Vietnam Veteran. Ritchie was a member of Loyality Masonic Lodge, a member and past potentate of the Salaam Shrine Center, their string band and the shepherds. He was also a member of The Valley of New Jersey Scottish Rite and the Legion of Honor.
Ritchie is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Dolores Ann (Hummer) Ash who died in 2020. He is survived by two daughters; Ronda Vendola and husband, Michael of Union and Tammy Bernardino and husband, Robert of New York and by nine grandchildren.
