It is with our hearts full of love and gentle remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Richard E. Badger, 85, of Wayne Twp. who passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Avalon Care Center following an extended illness.
Born December 7, 1940, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Elmer "Gump" and Edith Tillia Badger.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959 and attended Geneva College. He was a faithful member of the Chewton Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and as a Sunday School Superintendent. He worked in the Steel Mill for 49 years as a maintenance mechanic on the UHP Furnace, LRS, Four Strand Caster and supporting equipment, ultimately retiring from TMK in 2011. Some of his interests were building his own home, his race car, working in his garage, archery hunting, farming and agriculture, and owning and managing his own apple orchard for five years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed big game hunting in Colorado.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years whom he married in 1963 Margaret A. "Peggy" Moyer Badger; children; John (Nancy) Badger of Solon OH, Tammy (David) Chapnell of New Castle, and Steve (Gina) Badger of Pittsburgh; three grandsons, Matthew Chapnell, Nolan Badger, and Owen Badger; four granddaughters, Cara (Peter) Badger, Heather (Daniel) Hancock, Elaina (Andrius) Burnelis, and Mckenna Badger; two great-granddaughters, Annika Badger and Eva Hancock; sister, Lana (Bill) Hazlett of The Woodlands, Texas; two brothers, Barry (Gini) Badger of Lebanon, PA and Bruce (Joan) Badger of Wampum.
