Richard D. Barent ("Dick"), age 92, of Gibsonia, formerly of the North Side, on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Beloved husband for 65 years of Barbara Kustes Barent. Father of Richard J. (Lisa) Barent and Linda (Chris Yoskosky) Barent; proud grandfather of Caroline and Emily Barent and Larkin Yoskosky; also survived by his faithful grand-dog Wolfie. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes (Pleva) and Zigmund Barent, who was a Polish immigrant, his sisters Agnes Barent, Rose Stole and Martha Baldrige and brothers Zigmund Barent and Stanley Pyczynski.
He grew up on Howard Street on the North Side and graduated from Allegheny High School in 1948. Dick then joined the Air Force, where his travels took him to Germany, Spain, Switzerland, France and Casablanca. After marrying Barbara, he took a sales job with Economics Laboratory, now known as Ecolab, and the couple moved to Toledo, Ohio, where they raised their children and Dick became a top salesman who built strong relationships with his customers which continued beyond his retirement in 1992. They lived in Toledo for 45 years before permanently returning in 2010 to his favorite city, Pittsburgh, to live near his children, who had both moved there. He had a strong faith in God, and was an avid Steelers fan, loved reading, playing golf, enjoying his swimming pool and being in the company of family and good friends. Dick was known for his outgoing and upbeat personality and telling the best stories with a twinkle in his eye. He will be enormously missed by many.
